Improving the well-being of children, families, and young adults in the metropolitan DC area.

Counseling and Assessment Practice of Fairfax
Assessment
We offer comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for children, adolescents, and young adults to better understand their cognitive, academic, and emotional functioning. Our assessments can help identify learning differences, attention and executive functioning challenges, as well as emotional or behavioral concerns that may be affecting success at school or in daily life. We also provide evaluations for a variety of specific needs, including Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs), Advanced Academic Program (AAP) placement, and literacy or ADHD screenings.
Counseling
We provide counseling services for children, adolescents, and young adults in a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment. Our experienced therapists help clients navigate a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, and challenges with emotional and behavioral regulation. We recognize the vital role parents play in a child’s wellbeing and actively involve families in the therapeutic process to support lasting growth and positive change.
Consultation
We offer consultation services to parents and caregivers seeking guidance and support for their child’s learning or behavioral needs. Through a collaborative and compassionate problem-solving approach, we help families better understand challenges and develop practical strategies for success at home and in school.
Coaching
We provide individualized coaching for children and adolescents who are experiencing executive functioning challenges. Our coaching focuses on building skills such as organization, time management, planning, task initiation, and self-monitoring—tools that support greater independence and success both in and out of the classroom.

What Makes Us Unique
Our clinicians bring decades of experience supporting children, young adults, and families in public and private schools, colleges, and mental health settings. We understand that wellbeing is shaped by the many environments in which individuals live, learn, and grow. That’s why we take an ecological approach—considering both the individual and the systems around them—to better understand presenting concerns and to inform thoughtful, tailored support.

Many of our practitioners are also trained as school psychologists, with in-depth knowledge of school systems, special education law, and best practices for collaboration. We’ve participated in hundreds of school-based meetings, including screenings, eligibility determinations, and IEP development. We’ve designed and implemented behavioral and academic intervention plans in both school and home settings, and we’re here to help families navigate these often-complex processes with clarity and confidence.

Several members of our team have also been involved in advanced academic assessment through the Cognitive Assessment Program at George Mason University.

In addition to our clinical and school-based work, our partners have taught, conducted research, and trained future psychologists at universities. This academic foundation keeps us grounded in current best practices while fostering a forward-thinking, evidence-informed approach. We also understand the unique challenges of college and graduate school, and we support students as they transition from campus life to the demands of the working world.
Our Team
Our clinicians are licensed school and clinical psychologists with extensive experience and a shared commitment to helping individuals thrive. We’re dedicated to ongoing learning and stay current with the latest research and evidence-based practices to provide the highest quality care.
